Travis

Travis is the Director of Muru Pathways. He is a qualified Social Worker with over 9 years’ experience in Disability, Mental Health, Housing, and Youth & Adolescent Behavioural Supports. Travis believes in offering exceptional levels of independence and autonomy to assist in individuals choosing their own path. His focus is on addressing barriers and reducing complexity in the support environment, while assisting those he works with to connect with supports and build capacity and resilience.

Adam

Adam has a Diploma and Certificate IV in Disability, as well as a Certificate IV in Training and Assessing. He has completed Behaviour Support Training and has extensive experience as a supervisor, negotiator, advocate and presenter. Adam’s person-centred support incorporates his artistic skills, such as painting, drawing, short video production and music. He also currently runs Muru Pathways’ Art Program.

Adam enjoys all aspects of his job, from assisting artist to develop their own style within the art program, to walking alongside people to reach their goals through coordinating their supports. He has a background in disability support work and has hands on experience of whatever kinds of support you might need. Adam has worked in the industry since 2005 and has made many connections in the community to assist people with disabilities to live the life they choose. His interests include art, comic books, record collecting as well as tai chi and meditation.

Ashlea

Ashlea is a Registered Nurse and mental health clinician with more than eight years’ psychiatric experience. She has a post graduate degree in Criminology and Behavioural Science, having spent three years working for Justice Health in the area of forensic nursing. For the past five years, she has specialised in homelessness, forensics and complex case management.

Ashlea now spends her time consulting with various government and non-government organisations, as well as concentrating on private practice. She is an NDIS registered provider, accredited Clinical Neuropsychotherapist and member of the International Association of Neuropsychotherapists, anger management treatment practitioner and member of the International Association of Trauma Professionals, CBT practitioner and professional affiliate member of the Australian Psychological Society, and published author. Ashlea is currently completing the Master of Mental Health Nursing through the University of Newcastle.

Courtney

Courtney is a Coordinator of Supports who assists NDIS service users with navigating the sometimes complex nature of the scheme whilst also providing support, compassion and advocacy for those engaging with the service providers and the NDIA.

Courtney holds a Bachelor of Social Science and a Masters in Social Work and has been engaged with the NDIS since the inception of the scheme. Courtney also has over 10 years’ experience in working with individuals with disabilities and mental health diagnoses. Courtney is a dedicated professional with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Fiona

Fiona has a Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Counselling) and is completing her Psychology Honours. She has been working with individuals with a disability or mental health diagnosis, specifically around health and well being.

She has 9 years’ experience in community work and has worked for FaCS in remote indigenous communities, as well as for Corrective Services transitioning offenders back into the community. Fiona has also worked for a mental health NGO assisting people to live independently in the community.

Fiona is kind-hearted and offers thoughtful, creative and passionate support.

Hannah

Hannah has several years of experience in working in the mental health and disability sector and has been doing Support Coordination since roughly 2014. She started working with the Hunter Partners in Recovery Program (PIR), a nationally-funded program that aimed to connect people with severe and persistent mental illnesses with appropriate services, when she first coordinated an NDIS Plan. She has also been involved in numerous projects, including Hoarding & Squalor and Health Integration.

Hannah completed a Bachelor of Psychology in 2016, graduating with First Class Honours, and has had training that includes counselling, trauma-informed practice, and working with family violence. She specialises in mental health/psychosocial disabilities, and has experience working with people with varying ages, cultures, and disabilities. Hannah aspires to be a Clinical Psychologist.

Kelly

Kelly’s training in Occupational Therapy and experience in working as an Activities Coordinator and Occupational Therapist in Aged Care and Mental Health has allowed her to work with people from a range of experiences and backgrounds with different goals and challenges. These experiences have provided her with an appreciation for diversity.

Kelly enjoys seeing people empowered to exercise choice and supporting people to achieve the goals that are important to them. She offers a quiet, calm and reliable method of support and her hobbies include music, cooking and enjoying the outdoors.

Layne

Layne’s journey commenced with volunteer coaching roles as he completed school and his apprenticeship, before getting the opportunity to learn and work as a special needs teaching assistant in the United Kingdom over a 2-year period.

After returning to Australia, Layne commenced another classroom role supporting students with Autism Spectrum disorder as he completed a Bachelor of Special Education (Primary)/Disability Studies at the University of New England. His employment as a teaching assistant and practicums as a student provided valuable experiences which he continues to draw upon in his job today.

Layne has spent the past 3.5 years outside of the classroom as a disability support worker and has thoroughly enjoyed meeting and learning from participants and other professionals from a range of backgrounds. He finds supporting people to overcome challenges and achieve their goals extremely rewarding, and he values a job where each day is unique as the people he gets to work with.

Robert

Rob is a certified Assistant in Nursing (AIN) and has a Certificate III in Community Services (Aged Care) which has allowed him to work for almost 10 years in Nursing Homes, Palliative Care and in the community as an Individual Support Worker. He has empathy and compassion for people and recognises the importance of choice in peoples’ lives. He is very passionate about being able to offer ongoing support to people in the community.

Rob has been able to use his Life Coaching skills to support, and encourage people to identify, set and pursue goals that are important to them. Leadership and Communication Certificates have sharpened his listening skills and enabled him to communicate effectively. Completing a Mental Health First Aid Certificate has given him a greater understanding of mental health challenges and how to offer support.

Rob is punctual, reliable and proactive with a goal focused method of support in a calm and relaxed manner. His hobbies include enjoying the outdoors, chess, movies, travel and the arts.

Steven has a certificate IV in Community Services and a Certificate III in both Nursing and Care Support Services. He has worked for 10 years in aged care and 2 years in disability support. Steven offers a direct approach to his support which is proactive, inclusive and disciplined. He enjoys general handyman work as well as bush walking, camping and boating.
