Layne’s journey commenced with volunteer coaching roles as he completed school and his apprenticeship, before getting the opportunity to learn and work as a special needs teaching assistant in the United Kingdom over a 2-year period.
After returning to Australia, Layne commenced another classroom role supporting students with Autism Spectrum disorder as he completed a Bachelor of Special Education (Primary)/Disability Studies at the University of New England. His employment as a teaching assistant and practicums as a student provided valuable experiences which he continues to draw upon in his job today.
Layne has spent the past 6 years outside the classroom as a disability support worker, Senior Worker, Mentor, and NDIS Coordinator of Supports. Layne has thoroughly enjoyed meeting and learning from participants and other professionals from a range of backgrounds. He finds supporting people to overcome challenges and achieve their goals extremely rewarding, and he values a job where each day is as unique as the people he gets to work with.
